Know about various subsections of the National Film Awards:

The National Film Awards are further categorized into three main categories:
  • Feature Films,
  • Non-Feature Films and
  • Best Writing on Cinema

Who plays the role of Jury in the National Film Awards?

The jury is appointed directly by the Directorate of Film Festivals in India and not from any Governmental Organization to maintain balance and transparency.
There are certain rules which need to be followed in the cinema industry. The rulebook is generated yearly and that is known as the National Film Award Regulation.
The Award is given to those who abide thoroughly by those rules and don’t violate the laws in any manner.

What is the motive of conducting the Award Ceremony?

The main aim of conducting the award ceremony is that the filmmakers and other crew members get motivated and highly encouraged after being awarded. As this is a very dignified award, many filmmakers strive hard to achieve it by putting in a lot of effort. Working with enthusiasm and understanding of the film industry is all it takes to achieve this award.
Also, there's an encouragement to the films to have a social relevance through which the audience could relate to the current issues and make an understanding with the film in that sense.
Also, the films need to abide by the unity and maintain the integrity of the nation.

How often the ceremony takes place?

The ceremony takes place every year. But the previous year due to the rising situation of CIVID-19, it did not take place.
