AFCAT 2 2021 Detailed Exam Pattern: Get Details Here

Indian Air Force (IAF) on 01 June 2021 released the application form for the Air Force Common Admissions Test (AFCAT) 2/2021. Candidates who are eligible may apply for the test online on the official website afcat.cdac.in till June 30. The AFCAT CBT will be conducted on August 28, 29, and 30. Through this written exam individuals at the flying branch and for ground duties, in technical and non-technical posts would be selected.

AFCAT exam will be conducted in two phase. Final Merit would be basis no scores both in written test and AFSB test as prescribed by the Indian Air Force. Candidates will be selected in order of the marks secured by them in both the exams. Mode of communication of the result to the candidates will be decided by IAF itself.

Below is the pattern of the online exam for AFCAT and EKT.

NOTE: The Online examination will consist of objective type questions and will be in
English only for both AFCAT and EKT.

Marking schemes:
(i) Three marks will be awarded for every correct answer.
(ii) One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
(iii) No mark will be awarded for the unattempted questions.

AFCAT Vacancy Details and Application Fee


According to a notification released by the IAF, the test seeks to fill 334 vacancies. The application fee for all groups is Rs 250.

The second phase of the exam will be through AIR FORCE SELECTION BOARD(AFSB)
IAF will prepare the list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying score in the online AFCAT as decided by the IAF. Selected candidates will be called at one of the Air Force selection board. Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry and Meteorology Branch will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSBcentres.

Physical fitness:
While reporting to the SSB, candidates are advised to be physically fit and healthy in order to undergo various tests at AFSB. Candidates should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 mile s (1.6 km) in 10 minutes, 10 push-ups and 3 chin ups.

Testing of AFSB would consist of three stages:
(a)Stage-1: This test is a screening test and only qualified candidates would go for stage 2 testing. Qualified candidates will require to go for document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branch they have applied for. Those who failed to meet the necessary requirements would be sent back on the first day itself.

(b)Stage-2: Psychological test will be conducted on day one and the group testing and personal interview would start after the document check for the next five days.

(c)For Flying Branch: Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test.


Candidates who have failed the CPSS/PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible
