SSC Exam 
The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) is a body constituted by the government to conduct examinations to shortlist candidates for technical and non-technical posts for Class III and Class IV categories in various ministries and departments of the Government of India.

The Commission also conducts exams for various clerical and Group ‘C’ posts in Central and State Ministries and hence, lakhs of aspirants apply and appear for the exam every year.

SSC Exam: Eligibility criteria
Following are the eligibility criteria for applying for SSC Exam :

  1. The candidate should have qualified 10+2 (12th)/HSC Board examination or an equivalent degree from a recognized Board or University.

  2. The candidate must be above the age of 18 years.

  3. The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

These are the minimum qualifications for the SSC exams; certain examinations might require a higher age or educational qualification for the candidate to be eligible for a given post. For more details, visit  https://ssc.nic.in/

 

Exams conducted by SSC:
The SSC conducts various examinations for shortlisting candidates for different posts:

  1. SSC-CGL (Combined Graduate Level)

  2. SSC-CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary  Level)

  3. SSC-MTS

  4. Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ 

  5. JE (Junior Engineer- Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts), Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, CAPFs and Assistant Sub-Inspector in CISF

  6. Constable (GD) in CAPFs, NIA, SSF and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles

  7. Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Hindi Pradhyapak

  8. Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff. 

 

SSC Exam: Positions offered
The number of positions offered under the recruitment process have been mentioned below:

  1. Inspectors of Central Excise, Inspectors of Income-Tax, Sub-Inspectors in Central Bureau of Investigation and Central Police Organisations etc.

  2. Divisional Accountants, Auditors and Accountants under the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) 

  3. Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) in CPWD

  4. Statistical Investigators, Grade IV of Subordinate Statistical Service (SSC)

  5. Tax Assistant (a non – Gazetted Ministerial post in various Commissionerates of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise and Customs)

  6. Section Officer (Commercial Audit)

  7. Section Officer (Audit) 

  8. Lower Division Clerks (LDC) in various Ministries/Departments

  9. Grade “C” and Grade ‘‘D” Stenographers

  10. Assistants in various Ministries/Departments.

 

SSC Exam: Pay scale/ Salary
The Pay scale/ salary for various posts are given below:

  1. SSC-CGL: 9,300-34,800

  2. SSC-CHSL: 5,200-20,200

  3. Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’: 5,200-20,200 

  4. CPO: 9,300-34,800 

  5. Junior Engineer: 9,300-34,800 

  6. Constable (GD): 5,200-20,200

Visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and read the detailed notification issued by the SSC. Go through the vacancy details, eligibility criteria, important dates etc., and apply online. 

Note: Candidates must apply for the exam(s) of their choice on the Application portal of the official website of the SSC within the specified time limit.
