In order to be selected for the post of UP Lekhpal, candidates must be willing to work in rural areas of the state of Uttar Pradesh, performing duties such as reporting information to the Revenue Officer, maintaining village revenue accounts and land records, reporting changes resulting from mutations and partitions, conducting surveys, inspecting fields, and revising official maps, as well as offering assistance in times of natural disaster and agricultural distress.
