How to Prepare for IB ACIO Exam 2021

The Ministry of Home Affairs had released the notification for IB ACIO Exam 2021 on 19th December, 2020. The last date to apply for this exam is 9th January, 2021. There are about 2000 vacancies so this is a great opportunity for candidates seeking to work with the IB. As we know that with the time passing by the level of competition has been consistently rising. So to clear any exam it is important to follow certain steps and know well in advance about how to go about the preparation. Before beginning to prepare for the exam it is very important to know the pattern of the exam. IB ACIO Exam consists of three stages-
  • Tier I Exam- It is a written exam which is objective in nature.
  • Tier II Exam- It is a written exam which is descriptive in nature
  • Interview- In the interview the personality of the candidate is tested.

Tier I exam consists of questions from sections such as General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language and General Studies. There are 20 questions from each section with each question carrying one mark.

Preparation For General Awareness
In General Awareness questions are asked from History, Polity, Geography and Culture and along with this, questions related to current affairs are also asked. So it is advised to prepare all these subjects thoroughly. Candidates should read the newspaper on a daily basis and follow some current affairs magzine as well.

Preparation for Quantitative Aptitude
It is important to understand the concepts clearly for this section. Candidates must prepare for this section thouroughly. In this section questions are asked from topics like SI and CI, time and distance, Percentage, Average, Ratio and Proportion, Simplification, Number System, Quadratic Equations etc. After understanding the topics, candidates should solve as many questions as possible and also try to learn short cut methods to solve the questions quickly.

Preparation for Reasoning Ability
In this section questions are asked from topics such as Similarities and Differences, Blood Relation, Coding and Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Verbal and Figure Reasoning etc. To do well in this section candidates should practice as many questions as possible.

Preparation for English Language
Candidates should work on their grammar and vocabulary. To prepare for this section candidates should solve past year papers and get into the habit of reading the newspaper.

Practice Previous Year Papers
Solving previous year papers is a must for all the candidates and they are very important too. It is important to analyse the past year papers and understand the pattern and prepare accordingly.

Attempt Mock Test Papers
To regularly test your preparation it is important to attempt mock test papers and analyse them. They also help you understand how to manage your time while attempting the paper.
