The SSC CGL offers a diverse work profile. Nature of job varies from field to office work depending upon the post. The description of roles and responsibilities is given below.

Assistant Audit Officer Works under CAG in the audit department.Responsible for inspection and conducting audits.
Assistant Accounts Officer Largely assists with data management, maintains records of audits and data so assimilated.
Assistant Section Officer Looks after the day-to-day office management in Departments.
Assistant  Compiles files and reports, keeps a  track of ongoing departmental cases, etc. The nature of the job is clerical
Inspector of Income Tax Ensuring compliance with income tax laws, Conducts raids and searches at the behest of seniors.
Inspector (Central Excise) Prevents of excise duty, preventing smuggling. Is actively involved in raids and field operations
Assistant Enforcement Officer Preventing forgery and money laundering
Sub Inspector Works at the Level of thana and chauki. Gathers information and enforces law and order.
Inspector(Narcotics) Implementation of PNDT act. Caries out inspections and raids to prevent drug trafficking.
Junior Statistical Officer Assisting the Statistical Officer in making documents, data entry, and tabulation
Statistical Investigator Grade-II Complies data from various sources. Oversees data to point out irregularities and mismatches.
