American firm Google is best recognized for its search engine. The Google founding team consists of Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google was created as an experiment at Stanford University to locate files online. At the university's graduate program in computer science, they collaborated. On Stanford's network, their global website went live in 1996.

BackRub was the original name of Google since it used backlinks to gauge a site's relevance.

The name was altered to Google, which was derived from the phrase "Googol," which denoted a number followed by 100 zeros. This name was chosen to convey the idea that the search engine was created to offer vast amounts of information.

The business's main office is in Mountain View, California.

Google was founded on September 4th, 1998, and the domain google.com was registered on September 15th, 1997.

Together, Larry and Sergey created Google's PageRank algorithm.

They established Alphabet in 2015, which consists of Google, Nest, Calico, and other companies.

Craig Silverstein, a Stanford PhD student who was employed as the company's first employee, was hired by the owners of Google.

At Stanford University in August 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin met, invented PageRank, and founded Google.

Page and Brin attempted to sell Google for $1,000,000 and then $750,000 in 1999.

The "Don't Be Evil" catchphrase has been adopted by Google as its core company value.

Page handed up the reins as CEO to Eric Schmidt in August 2001.

Yahoo had made a $3 billion purchase offer for Google in 2002, but Page and Brin rejected the offer.

Google goes public in August 2004 with a $27 billion valuation thanks to the creation of super-voting Class B shares by its founders.

Without telling Schmidt, Page paid $50 million for Android in August 2005.

Susan Wojcicki, Google's 16th employee, persuaded Page and Brin to agree to the purchase of YouTube in October 2006.

In September 2008, Google released the Chrome Browser thanks to the foresight of Sundar Pichai, the company's new CEO.

Schmidt transitioned to the position of Executive Chairman, and Page once again assumed leadership of Google in January 2011.

Brin demonstrated the Google Glass prototype while skydiving in real time in June 2012.

Page experienced vocal cord paralysis that same year.

Page revealed his plans for Google Island in May 2013.

In August 2015, Google changed its name to "Alphabet."

After giving Pichai control of Google in 2016, Page shifted his focus to making investments in "Flying Cars."

Since he was named the president of "Alphabet," even Brin has left his position at Google.

In 2019, Pichai was named CEO of Alphabet after Brin and Page both revealed their intentions to leave the company.
