The government of Uttar Pradesh decided to include 7 more cities in the Smart City Mission i.e. Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Ayodhya, Meerut, Firozabad and Shahjahanpur. 10 cities were included previously and after the new inclusion, UP will become the first state to have 17 smart cities.
