What is Heterosporous ?
Heterospory is referred to the production of two types of spores, which differ in size. The smaller male microspores and bigger female megaspores. The sporophyte stage of the plant bears microsporangia and megasporangia, which produces haploid microspores and megaspores, respectively by meiosis in the spore mother cells. The microspore germinates and forms a male gametophyte, whereas the megaspore develops into a female gametophyte. The male gametophytes bear antheridia and the female gametophytes bear archegonia.
