What was the basis of creation of new states in India?
In 1947, the boundaries of states of India were changed in order to create new states. This was done to ensure that people speaking same language lived in the same state. Same other states were created to recognize differences based on culture, ethnicity or geography. Example-Nagaland, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand.
