When carbon monoxide is released into the atmosphere, it is inhaled by animals and humans. Inside the body, carbon monoxide links to haemoglobin to create carboxyl–haemoglobin, which is 300 times more stable than oxygen –haemoglobin. This oxygen deprivation causes headaches, blurred vision, anxiety, and cardiovascular problems.
