Discuss the main steps in the digestion of proteins as the food passes through different parts of the alimentary canal
The digestion of protein occurs in two locations in the alimentary canal. In the stomach, the food enters the acidic medium, which activates the pepsinogen and forms pepsin that digests the protein in the stomach. This digestion continues in the intestine where enzymes present in pancreatic juice trypsin, chymotrypsin, and carboxypeptidase digest the protein into amino acids.
