Draw a labelled diagram of female reproductive system.
Explanation The female reproductive system comprises A pair of ovaries. A pair of oviducts. Uterus. Cervix. Vagina. External genitalia. The ovaries are the primary female sex organs that produce the ovum and some reproductive hormones. The oviducts (fallopian tubes), uterus and the vagina form the female accessory ducts. Either of the fallopian tubes measure about 10-12 cm in length. The part of the fallopian tube closer of the ovary is a funnel shaped structure called the infundibulum. The edges of the infundibulum have finger-like structures called fimbrae. The wide part of the fallopian tube is called the ampulla and is the site for fertilization. The uterus is also called as the womb. The uterus shows resemblance to an inverted pear (shape). The uterus leads to the vagina through a narrow cervix. The cervical canal is the cavity of the vagina which acts as a birth canal. The external genitalia comprise the mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, hymen and clitoris. The mons pubis is a fatty tissue covered with skin and pubic hair. The labia majora surround the vaginal opening and is present in the form of fleshy folds. The labia minora are folds of tissue present within the labia majora. The vaginal opening is sometimes covered by hymen. The clitoris is present at the junction of the labia minora, above the opening of the urethra.
