The most basic is La(OH)3La(OH)3 while the least basic is Lu(OH)3Lu(OH)3 . The covalent nature of the hydroxides rises as the size of lanthanide ions falls from La3 + La3 +  to Lu3 + Lu3 +  , and therefore the basic strength lowers.
