Thermus Aquaticus bacterium is employed in recombinant DNA technology because it has thermostable DNA polymerase (Taq. Polymerase) that remains active during high temperature-induced denaturation of a step of PCR. This enzyme is employed during amplification of gene using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). The amplified fragment can be used to ligate with a vector for further cloning
