When a seed of orange is squeezed, many embryos instead of one are observed. Explain how it is possible?
When a seed of orange is squeezed, many embryos instead of one are observed. It is due to polyembryony. Polyembryony is the occurrence of more than one embryo in a seed. The nucellar cells, synergid or integument cells develop into a number of embryos of different sizes in orange. Sometimes the formation of more than one egg in an embryo sac can lead to polyembryony.
