(i) President Allende addressed himself mainly to the worker's because he was a socialist and had taken several policy decisions to help the poor and the workers.   (ii) President Allende was opposed to foreign companies taking away natural resources like copper from the country. He implemented the policy of the redistribution of land to the landless farmers and free education and free milk for the poor children. The landlords, the rich and the church opposed his policies and were unhappy with him for supporting the poor.
