Solution: Here, two ordered pairs are equal. ⇒ Their first components are equal and their second components are separately equal. ⇒ x – 3 = 4 and x + y = -6 ⇒ x = 7 and 7 + y = -6 ⇒ y = – 13 Hence, x = 7 and y = – 13.
