Alpana design, mostly practiced in Bengal, refers to the colourful and bright sacred arts or the paintings done on floors that are done with hands and paint which is mainly made using a paste of rice and flour, specifically on the auspicious occasions in Bengal. Kolam Design is done in Karnataka, a geometrical drawing using lines, curves, etc. done on floors and grind pattern of dots. It uses synthetic or naturally made colours.Final Answer Kolam and Alpana designs are almost same rangoli designs made on floors, celebrating festivals, the difference between the two of them that Alpana design, practiced in Bengal is made by rice flour using colourful patterns and designs made using curves, and shapes and Kolam design, practiced in Karnataka is made using synthetic or naturally made colours, using dots, lines, etc.
