The invention of printing from movable metal type was done by Johann Gutenberg of Mainz, in 1450. He developed a process of creating type which can be transported, moved and used for several of printings. It was because of this new invention that made the production of a book possible just in a matter of days in contrast to the years of labour put in by scribes and illuminators.
