What were the means of communication before the picture diagrams existed? Why were they considered insufficient?
A sign language which was developed in the earlier times was the first method of communication which early men had. Sign language did not suffice because men sought some way of recording and preserving their ideas and the initial efforts were crude and could not accurately express detailed information neither one could understand them. Then developed was the means of memory aids and picture writing to enable men to give a more accurate and better version of their deeds and expressions and was possible by means of signs. Later on, the communication was carried away orally and realised that men forget them and one cannot survive on such means of communications. So, picture diagrams were used to help recall all the ideas in the correct order and to make the meaning more certain.
