Who was Rosa Parks? How did her action prove to be the cause of the Civil Rights Act, 1964?
Rosa Parks was an African- American woman. On 1st December 1955, she was tired from a long day at work. While travelling by a bus, she refused to give up her seat to a white man. Her refusal caused a huge agitation against unequal treatment of the African- Americans by the white person: It took the form of the Civil Rights Movement. As a result, the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964. The Act prohibited discrimination on the basis of race, religion or national origin among the citizens.
