Option b Balbiani rings (puffs) are site of RNA and protein synthesis. These chromosomes show distinct dark and light bands. Euchromatin is present in dark bands and heterochromatin is present in light bands. These bands helps in mapping of chromosomes in cytogenetic studies. These chromosomes form puffs or loops (in region of dark bands) which are called Balbiani puffs or Balbiani rings where synthesis of mRNA occurs.
