Why the forests are called as biodiversity hot spots?

Forests are Bio-diversity hot spots because forests consists different life forms and number of species . There are large number of species of microorganisms, plants, animals, fungi etc. Biodiversity of a particular area is defined by number of species found in the place. So, forests are hot spot of biodiversity.
