Option C. The Ganga and Yamuna action plan majorly target to clean the waste water as much as possible by sending them into waste water treatment plants and hence reduce the BOD of the water. During this process the pollutants polluting the river are removed and the water becomes safe to discharge. It included domestic sewage as well as toxic chemical and industrial sewage. Ganga action plan came into force in 1985 whereas Yamuna action plan was launched in 1993.
