Water plant life like lotus, water hyacinth and lily have huge, flat leaves that assist them live afloat. All aquatic flora have quality hairs on their leaves that entice air, and air sacks that maintain them buoyant. The water crowfoot has huge leaves on top, plus skinny thread-like leaves and feathery roots below water that unfold out and assist the plant to float.
