Are aquatic plants special in other ways?
Since aquatic plant life are usually surrounded via way of means of water and do now no longer need to keep it, their leaves simplest have a thin skin (waxy coating) or none at all. All vegetation have ‘breathing’ holes beneathneath their leaves that release extra water, however aquatic flora have masses of those holes, and they are usually open.
