Why did the Cholas build a strong naval fleet?
The Cholas engineered a powerful armed service fleet, to stay powerful and ensure management over the trade activities of Arabian traders with the Indian merchants of the southern coastal region. It was one of the most intrigued campaigns for the kingdom of the Chola dynasty under the kinship of Rajendra Chola. The straits of Malacca were ruled by Shrivijaya the ruler of present-day Indonesia, creating a lot of difficulties for the Indian traders in terms of trading activities. So, Rajendra Chola led a navy outing towards the region and conquered it, thus proving to be the most valiant rulers of his times. The Chola empire was witnessing a new decade of dynastic rule in the South-east region which had never happened before in the Indian historical timeline. It is considered one of the most audacious steps for the ruling realm.
