The first estate of the French society consisted of the king and the clergy. The second estate consisted of nobles and the third estates included the peasants and the bourgeois class. The most populous estate was the third estate but was made devoid of power. The rest of the two classes were 1%-2% but had immense powers. French society in the 18th century was divided into three estates.
