Why did the French government increase the taxes?
The French government increased the taxes following the command of Louis XVI. Louis XVI burdened the economy of France when he agreed to aid America financially. Hence, the need to meet the required assets would only be fulfilled by increased taxes. These increased taxes were paid by the third estate.
