How was the taxation policy responsible for the French Revolution?
The ways taxation policy became responsible to the french revolution- The French society was divided into three divisions or estates- the first estate which consists of clergies and church, the second estate which comprises the nobles, and the third estate which is made up of bourgeois and peasants. The first estate and second estate were exempted from taxes. These two estates have an influence over the king and advise the king mostly on taxation and other issues. Thus their advice is taken in more importance by the king and generally, this advice is in favor of the first two estates. The country was in debt because of the expensive war and lavish lifestyle of the royal family and the first two estates. The ninety percent population of the third estate paid all kinds of direct taxes and indirect taxes like land tax, Tithe, taille, etc. Members of the third estate, especially the bourgeois class believed that no group in society should be privileged by birth and made the illiterates and peasants aware of this atrocity. This unfair taking of taxes led France into the French revolution. The unfair treatment of taking taxes from the three estates especially the burden being taken by the third estate and exemptions made to the first two estates led France into the French revolution.
