Explanation Archegonia is a multicellular structure and it is present on surface of plant thallus. It is seen in the gametophytic phase of plants. It contains the ovum or female gametophyte. It consists of long neck and venter canal cells and a swollen base. The haploid egg present in them get fertilized by sperm released from antherozooids and forms the zygote. Final Answer It is multicellular structure and female sex organ present in plants.A haploid egg is present in it which get fertilized by sperm released from antherozooids.
