Removal of gonads cannot be considered as a contraceptive option. Why?
Gonads are not only responsible for production of sperms in male and ova in females but also secrete hormones which are important for good health of an individuals. The surgical removal of gonads, vasectomy (in males) and tubectomy (in females) cannot be considered as a contraceptive option because it leads to infertility and loss of hormones secreted by them. This is an effective method of birth control however, their reversibility rate is very poor. A good contraceptive should be able to effectively control unwanted pregnancy without effecting the fertility of an individuals.
