How is diapause different from hibernation?
Diapause is referred to as animal dormancy state while Hibernation is referred to as winter sleep. Diapause is the reduced metabolic activity in response to adverse environmental conditions while Hibernation is the resting stage, when animal hide themselves during winters. Example of diapause- zooplankton and insects. Example of hibernation- polar bear and squirrel.
