In a series of personnel changes spanning ministries, the Union government named Tarun Bajaj as the new revenue secretary and Bangalore Metro Rail Corp. Ltd managing director Ajay Seth as the new economic affairs secretary on Tuesday.
After Ajay Bhushan Pandey retired in February, Bajaj has been in charge of the revenue department's additional responsibilities.
Seth, a 1987 Karnataka cadre civil servant, can find his metro rail experience useful in the Union finance ministry at a time when the government is focusing on a major CAPEX campaign to revive the economy after a record contraction in FY21.
The changes were authorized by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a notification from the Department of Personnel and Training.
In the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, there is a special secretary and a financial advisor. Ali Raza Rizvi has been appointed secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises, following the appointment of current secretary Sailesh to the Public Enterprises Selection Board.
Jatindra Nath Swain, the managing director of Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd has been appointed secretary of the fisheries department.
Additional Secretary for the Ministry of the Interior Gyanesh Kumar has been promoted to the secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, while Indevar Pandey, who previously served as special secretary in the Ministry of Northeastern Development has been promoted to the secretary in the Departments of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, as well as the Department of Pensions and Pensioners Welfare.
Anjali Bhawra, a special secretary in the ministry of corporate affairs will now be the secretary of the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, while Anil Kumar Jha, a special secretary in the ministry of revenue will be the secretary of the ministry of tribal affairs.
