SSC CHSL Eligibility: Nationality

A candidate must be:
  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal, or Bhutan
  • A refugee of Tibet (China) who came to India before January 1, 1962, to settle gently in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries including Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam to settle permanently in India.
Candidates other than Indian citizens have to produce a certificate of eligibility authorized by the Government of India to be able to appear for the exam.

SSC CHSL Eligibility: Age Limit

The age limit for the SSC CHSL exam is 18 to 27 years of age. There is age relaxation provided to the candidates. The details of age relaxation are as follows:

Central Government Civilian Employees: Who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of online applications. 

Upto 40 years of age

Central Government Civilian Employees: Who have rendered not less than 3 years of regular and continuous service as of closing date for receipt of online applications (SC/ ST).

Upto 45 years of age

Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried. 

Upto 35 years of age

Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried (SC/ ST).

Upto 40 years of age

SSC CHSL Eligibility: Educational Qualification

The educational qualification required for different posts is different. The details are as follows:
 Posts Educational Qualification
LDC/JSA 12th passed or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university
PA/SA 12th passed or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university
DEO 12th passed or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university
DEO in Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) 12th passed in Science Stream with Mathematics as a subject, or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university

There is no upper limit on the number of attempts for the SSC CHSL Exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they want provided they satisfy the above-mentioned eligibility criteria.
