On the first day of the 2022 presidential election, 11 nomination papers were filed; one was rejected

On the first day of the July 18 Presidential Elections, 11 candidates filed their nominations for President Election 2022, and one of their papers was rejected due to a lack of legal paperwork.

The presidential nomination process for 2022 began with the publication of a notice inviting electors to fill a vacancy in the country's highest constitutional post. According to Parliamentary sources, a man named Lalu Prasad Yadav from Saran, Bihar, was among those who filed petitions.

Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh were among the states that filed presidential election nominations.

The members of the electoral college, which includes elected members of both houses of Parliament as well as elected members of the legislative assemblies of all states, including Delhi and Puducherry, elect the President of India.

Members of the Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, or state legislatures who have been nominated are not eligible to be included in the electoral college and hence are not able to vote in the election.

Who is eligible to run for President in 2022?

The applicant must be an Indian citizen with a minimum age of 35.

 He or she must be eligible to be a Lok Sabha member.

The candidate must not hold "any profit-making office under the Indian Government, any state government, or any local or other authority under the supervision of any of the said governments."

 The candidate may be the President, Vice President, or Governor of any state, as well as state or federal ministers.

How to Run for President in 2022: How Do I File a Nomination?

A candidate's nomination document must be submitted in the prescribed form-For 2 of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections, 1974.

The form must be signed by at least 50 voters as proposers and seconders.

Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the completed nomination paper must be delivered to the Returning Officer.

Candidates must deposit a security deposit of Rs. 15,000 with the Returning Officer.
