RMO 2022-2023 Exam Eligibility Criteria: Candidates belonging to a recognized educational board like CBSE, ICSE, and other state boards and who are from classes 8-12 can take part in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) exam. However, they need to qualify for the Pre Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO or Pre RMO) first. Being the first stage of the Indian mathematical Olympiad exam, candidates must qualify for Pre RMO before they move on to RMO. The exam is conducted by the Mathematics Teachers' Association (MTA) on behalf of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). RMO is the provincial level of the International Olympiad exam for Mathematics in India. It takes place in around 25 regions in India. The RMO exam encourages the talent of young children in the field of Mathematics,  which they eventually represent in the International Mathematical olympiad

RMO 2022-2023 Exam Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the RMO exam, candidates have to qualify for the Pre Regional Mathematical Olympiad (Pre RMO). It is the first stage of the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). Candidates from classes 8-12 can be a part of the Regional Mathematical Olympiad. However, they need to be from a recognized educational board like CBSE, ICSE, and other state boards and must have qualified for the Pre RMO exam.

Students from Kendriya Vidhayala (KV) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidhayala (JNV) are also eligible to participate in the exam. Candidates with Cards Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards can also be a part of the RMO. However, they cannot participate in the last phase of the Mathematical olympiad.
 

Stages in the Mathematical olympiad 

There are six stages in the Mathematical olympiad. These phases have similar eligibility. However, the level of difficulty in the exam increases with the increase in the phase or level.
  • Stage 1: Pre regional Mathematical olympiad (Pre RMO or PRMO)
  • Stage 2: Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)
  • Stage 3: Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)
  • Stage 4: International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camps (IMOTC)
  • Stage 5: Pre Departure Training Camps
  • Stage 6: International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
