SBI PO 2020 will be conducted to recruit Probationary Officers (PO) for branches of State Bank of India across the country. This year the State Bank of India (SBI) is going to recruit 2000 Probationary Officers (PO) for 2020-2021. The details for which the official notification has been released on SBI’s official website https://www.sbi.co.in/

Candidates who wish to join the State Bank of India as Probationary Officers can apply for this exam. The recruitment process is held in three phases. Candidates can apply for this exam till 4 December 2020.

SBI PO 2020 Recruitment

State Bank of India (SBI) to recruit Probationary Officers who work in various branches of SBI in India as well as other countries. Hence, SBI PO is an all India competitive exam. SBI PO is one of the most sought exams for jobs in the banking sector which not only offers lucrative salary but also excellent career progression. The role of PO is in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I).

There are three stages in the recruitment process.

SBI PO Salary 2020

SBI offers one of the lucrative salary packages along with other benefits as given below:
SBI PO Salary (Basic Pay) starts from Rs 27620/- with a Dearness Allowance Of 46.9% of the basic pay and City Compensatory Allowance(CCA) 3% or 4%(depending on the place of posting) with a Leased House Accommodation which ranges from Minimum- Rs 8000/-(Rural areas)Maximum- Rs 29500/-(Urban Areas). SBI also provides Furniture Allowance of Rs 120000/- and a Medical Insurance of 100% for employees75% for families and Travelling Allowance is Reimbursement for AC-2Tier (Exclusively for official travels). A monthly Petrol of Rs 1100-Rs 1300 and Miscellaneous of Rs 4000/- Hence, the total Compensation(Annually) is 7.5 lakhs to 12.9 lakhs plus the Loan Benefits Employees get Concession on interest rates.

SBI PO 2020 Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
(A) Essential Academic Qualifications
(as on 31.12.2020): Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for an interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31.12.2020. Candidates having Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31.12.2020. Candidates possessing qualification of Chartered Accountant may also apply. 

Note:

  1. The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the mark-sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/ Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University/ Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing. 
  2. Candidates should indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the online application. Where CGPA/ OGPA is awarded, the same should be converted into percentage and indicated in the online application. If called for an interview, the candidate will have to produce a certificate issued by the appropriate authority inter alia stating the norms of the University regarding conversion of grade into percentage and the percentage of marks scored by the candidate in terms of these norms. 
  3. Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all the semester(s)/ year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of Honours/ optional/ additional optional subject if any. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class/ Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only. The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%. 

(B) Age Limit: (As on 01.04.2020): Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2020 i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.1999 and not earlier than 02.04.1990 (both days inclusive). Relaxation in Upper age limit shall be as below:

  2. Candidates against whom there is/ are adverse report regarding character & antecedents, moral turpitude is not eligible to apply for the post.

2. RESERVATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY (PWD):

4% horizontal reservation has been provided to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as per section 34 of “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”. The post is identified suitable for the Persons with under noted categories of disabilities as defined in the Schedule of RPWD Act 2016:

A. Locomotor Disabilities (LD): Only those persons are eligible to apply under Locomotor Disability (LD) category who have the inability to execute distinctive activities associated with the movement of self and objects resulting from affliction of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or both, including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy and Acid Attack Victims.

Orthopedically challenged persons with the following benchmark are covered under Locomotor Disability:

a. OA - One arm affected (Right or Left)

b. OL - One leg affected (Right or Left)

c. OAL - One arm & One Leg affected

d. BL - Both legs affected but not arms

Persons with OA and OAL category should have normal bilateral hand functions.

a. "Leprosy cured person" means a person is cured of leprosy but suffers from:

i. Loss of sensation in hands or feet as well as the loss of sensation and paresis in the eye and eyelid but with no manifest deformity; 

ii. Manifest deformity and paresis but having enough mobility in their hands and feet to enable them to engage in normal economic activity;

iii. extreme physical deformity as well as advanced age which prevents him/ her from undertaking any gainful occupation, and the expression "leprosy cured" shall be construed accordingly;

b. “Cerebral palsy" means a Group of non-progressive neurological conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination, caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring before, during or shortly after birth; 

c. "Dwarfism" means a medical or genetic condition resulting in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimetres) or less;

d. "Muscular dystrophy" means a group of hereditary genetic muscle disease that weakens the muscles that move the human body and persons with multiple dystrophy have incorrect and missing information in their genes, which prevents them from making the proteins they need for healthy muscles. It is characterised by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue;

e. "Acid attack victims" means a person disfigured due to violent assaults by throwing acid or similar corrosive substance.

B. Visual Impairment (VI): Only those Visually Impaired (VI) persons who suffer from any one of the following conditions, after best correction, are eligible to apply.

a. Blindness:

i. Total absence of sight; OR

ii. Visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible correction; OR

iii. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 10 degree. OR

b. Low Vision:

i. Visual acuity not exceeding 6/18 or less than 20/60 upto 3/60 or upto 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible corrections; OR

ii. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 40 degree up to 10 degrees.

C. Hearing Impaired (HI): Only those Hearing Impaired (HI) persons who suffer from any one of the following conditions, after best correction, are eligible to apply.

a. Deaf means a person having 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears.

b. Hard of Hearing means a person having 60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears.

D. ‘d’ & ‘e’: Only those persons, who suffer from any one of the following types of disabilities, are eligible to apply under this category:

a. “Specific Learning Disability” (SLD) means a heterogeneous group of conditions wherein there is a deficit in processing language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself as a difficulty to comprehend, speak, read, write, spell, or to do mathematical calculations and includes such conditions as perceptual disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and developmental aphasia.

b. “Mental Illness” (MI) means a substantial disorder of thinking, mood, perception, orientation or memory that grossly impairs judgment, behaviour, capacity to recognise reality or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life, but does not include retardation which is a condition of arrested or incomplete development of mind of a person, especially characterised by subnormality of intelligence.

c. “Multiple Disabilities” means multiple disabilities amongst LD, VI, HI, SLD & MI.

Note: Only those persons with benchmark disabilities would be eligible for reservation.

“Benchmark disability” means a person with not less than 40% of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes the persons with a disability, where disability has been defined in a measurable term, as certified by the certifying authority.

A person who wants to avail the benefit of reservation will have to submit a disability certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per Government of India guidelines. Such certificate will be subject to verification/ re-verification as may be decided by the competent authority.

SBI PO 2020  Number of Attempts: The maximum number of chances are fixed for each category. Candidates who have used up all the chances are not eligible to apply. Appearing in Preliminary Exam is not counted as an attempt but appearing in Mains Exam is counted.

SBI PO 2020 Exam Pattern 

SBI PO is conducted in a three-tier process

  1. Preliminary exam
  2. Mains exam
  3. Group Discussion 
  4. Personal Interview.

Given below is the expected exam pattern of SBI PO 2020 according to previous year notification.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination
Preliminary Examination consists of Objective Questions for 100 marks which are conducted online. This test is for a duration of 1-hour comprising 3 Sections(with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Candidates need to qualify the Prelims by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. There will be no sectional cutoff. A certain number of candidates in each category are decided by the Bank (approximately 10 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) who are then shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Phase – II: Main Examination

The main Examination comprises Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests are through online. Candidates need to answer a Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of the Objective Test, a Descriptive Test is administered.

Objective Test:

The objective test is of 3 hours & consists of 4 Sections for a total of 200 marks. The objective test has separate timing for every section.

Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test is of 30 minutes with 50 marks in a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates need to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test papers of only those candidates who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in the objective test will be evaluated.  

Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both – Preliminary and Main examination): Negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question for wrong answers will be deducted. No marks will be deducted if the question is left blank. 

Phase – III: Group Exercises (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
The aggregate marks of candidates who qualify in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test are taken into consideration and therefore arranged in descending order in each category. Only the candidates who make it are called for the Group Exercises and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview are decided by the SBI.
