1. The rotating horse-

We're all wondering which way the rotating horse is turning because of the optical illusion. The geometric equine appears to coil about, and many TikTok users have speculated on the horse's trajectory, but we still have no idea which way it turns.

2. The cat and the stairs-

The internet is divided over this feline-themed optical illusion. In this post, it appears that no one can decide whether the cat is walking up or down the stairs. While the illusion has been circulating online since 2015, we still have no idea where the cat is going.

3. The Phantom Queen-

This mind-blowing film displays the Illusion of the Year winner for 2021. On a chessboard, the Phantom Queen optical illusion shows the reflection of an invisible queen piece. The movie moves around to display a creative 3D shape that matches the chessboard layout. The Queen is hidden beneath that shape, making it appear as though she isn't even on the board.

4. Moving pictures-

Artist Akiyoshi Kitaoka developed this mysterious moving optical illusion. The design employs the 'anomalous motion phenomena' to give the impression that the image is moving when it is not. Because of the way the image reaches our retinas at a specific spot, our brain mislead us into thinking the photo is moving.

5. What's hiding amongst the stripes?-

This eye-crossing striped illusion, submitted by Dr Michelle Dickinson on Twitter, is next on our list of optical illusions. When you move your head forcefully from side to side (carefully! ), it comes to life. Between the lines, a picture will display. What kind of furry companion do you think will show up?

6.Spinning discs-

This is an illusion inspired by experimental psychologist Akiyoshi Kitaoka and included in Clive Gifford's book Eye Benders. It's not a GIF, but rather a static image, despite the fact that the wheels appear to be turning in front of your eyes. It occurs as a result of the way your eyes examine an image repeatedly while autofocusing and correcting. If it becomes too much, concentrate on a single wheel to bring it all to a halt.

7.How many numbers are in this illusion?-

The internet was stumped by this number-themed deception, which asked, "How many numbers do you see?" At first sight, it appears that there are just three digits, however as you look closer and harder, more numbers surface. There are a total of seven numbers, but which ones are they?

8. Floating ship-

The majority of optical illusions look to be handcrafted or digitally created, but every now and then one emerges in the wild — and these magnificent 'floating' ships may be the most mind-boggling occurrence we've ever seen. A pedestrian in Cornwall was taken aback when he saw a boat hovering over the water, and his shot instantly went viral.

9.World's oldest optical illusion?-

It's possible that this is the original duck-rabbit illusion, which was discovered in a cave in France in 2010. It's made up of two overlapping images carved out of rock that, depending on how you look at it, resemble a mammoth and a bison. While it's possible that this is the first optical illusion in practice, no one knows if it was intended to be that way or if it was merely a game of overlapping traits. But, since both art and magic are in the eye of the beholder, we think it's okay to call it an illusion if it works.

What does an optical illusion?

Color, light, and patterns can be used to produce optical illusions that deceive or mislead our minds. The brain processes the information gathered by the eye, resulting in a perception that does not match the true image.

What are the 3 types of optical illusions?

Every visual illusion can be classified into one of three categories: physiological, cognitive, or literal. Let's look at these three groups and see which illusions fit into each.

How does an optical illusion trick your brain?

The brain can be misled into perceiving something that isn't there by methodically organising a series of patterns, images, and colours, or by manipulating the way an object is lighted. The way you see proportion can also be influenced by the nearby familiar objects. It's an optical illusion, not magic.

Why does illusion happen?

Illusions arise as a result of a mismatch between physical stimuli and the individual's perception of them. The mismatch is produced by the sensory organs' improper interpretation of information.
