This year as we enter a crucial decade dedicated to the restoration of earth, it is now more important than ever to make peace with nature . The theme of Environment day this year is Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.'
In 1972 the UN General Assembly designated 5th June as World Environment Day marking the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. It was celebrated two years later for the first time under the slogan “Only One Earth.” This year Pakistan, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), will be the global host for the day to highlight the importance of ecosystem restoration.
On this occasion the UN is launching the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration :The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021–2030 is a long term goal highlighting the need for greatly increased global cooperation to restore degraded and destroyed ecosystems, contributing to efforts to combat climate change and safeguard biodiversity, food security, and water supply.(Wikipedia)
With rise in cases of eroding ecosystems and an overall damaged environment beyond repair ,we need to be alarmed now more than ever about the drastic changes that will be brought upon us through the destruction of the environment .Every little step counts in our fight to stop our environment from further degradation and efforts towards creating a safe and secure environment for all creatures to flourish.
