Eligibility Criteria for the JEE Mains Exam in 2022
The JEE Main exam is held twice a year, in January and April, and is divided into two sessions. Due to the pandemic, JEE Mains was held in four phases last year: February, March, April, and May. It will be held in two sessions again in 2022, in April and May.Keeping in mind that candidates would require time to prepare for this national level entrance exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) produced a list of crucial dates related to this examination, including registration, application, and the initial date of entry, among other things. The application form includes a set of eligibility requirements that applicants must meet in order to be considered for this engineering and architecture entrance exam. It is important to realise, however, that these criteria do not guarantee admission to prestigious universities. The final decision on admission is made based on the results of the JEE Main and Advanced exams.

What Changes Have Been Made to the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria?
Multiple adjustments to the eligibility requirements of this entrance have been made as a result of the transition in its conducting body from CBSE to NTA. Read on to learn more about the changes and to stay informed before registering/applying:
- Class 12 marks aren't given much weight:
The Class 12 results are only valid for the JEE Main qualifying examination.
The marks from 10+2 will not be taken into account when calculating the All India Rank of JEE Main.
- Possession of an Aadhaar Card is required:
To sit for this national level engineering and architecture entrance exam, aspirants from this country must have their Aadhaar Card. Additionally, foreign applicants need to have their passports to appear for this test.
2022 JEE Main Eligibility Norms
Fresh candidates and discarded candidates are the two categories of pupils.
There are two types of students who drop out of JEE Main:
- Candidates who failed to qualify for the JEE Main last year will take the exam again this year.
- Students who completed their 10+2 the previous year took a year off to prepare for the JEE Main exam, which they would take this year.
To be considered for this entrance, aspiring candidates must meet the following requirements:
Amount of Attempts
Candidates can take the JEE Main exam a maximum of three times in a row. Droppers who have previously arrived at the door and failed to clear it may now sit for it twice more. They must, however, make three consecutive tries, failing which they will not be permitted to appear.Because this exam is held twice a year, throughout two sessions, the admission process for one academic session is considered a single try.
Special Provision for Applicants of a Few States
For a few states like Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu and Kashmir, candidates need to provide the following details to appear for JEE Main 2022:

They would also need to select specific cities in their states as their examination centres.
JEE Main State of Eligibility 2022 snippets
The state's qualifying code has no influence on the candidate's initial or present residence.
- If an applicant has passed the 12th Class examination or a similar exam in one state but not in another, the state code where the qualifying exam was taken will be utilised to assess eligibility.
- Students who have passed the NIOS 12th Class exam or an equivalent exam must choose the state of eligibility that is appropriate for the study center's location.
- Indian nationals who have finished Class 12th or equivalent in Nepal/Bhutan will be given the State code of qualification based on their permanent address in India as mentioned in their passport.
- OCIs/PIOs who pass the Class 12 exam in India will have the same state code of eligibility as Indian nationals; however, OCIs/PIOs who pass the 12th Class exam in a college/institution outside of India will be eligible for other state quota seats or All India quota seats in all NITs (National Institute of Technology), IIEST (Indian Institutes of Engineering Science and Technology), and Other-CFTIs (Certified Cyber Threashold Institutions (Not for Home State quota seats).
JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria Admissions to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs
Admission to B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch / B.Planning courses in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs participating in the Central Seat Allocation Board would be based on All India Rank, subject to CSAB approval.The Council of Architecture has determined on the following eligibility criteria for admission to B.Arch. courses, aside from NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs:
"No candidate for admission to the Architecture programme shall have passed an examination at the end of the qualifying examination with 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as 50 percent marks in the qualifying examination aggregate."
Candidates for B. Planning must have a 50 percent math score and a 50 percent overall score on the qualifying examination.
JEE Mains 2022 Preparation Tips
Examine the curriculum and make a list of subjects that are easy and those that are difficult.This is the most important requirement for preparing for the JEE Mains exam, and all aspirants must take it seriously. If you don't understand the curriculum, all of your efforts to study for the test will be for naught. Obtain a copy of the curriculum and memorise it so that you are aware of the topics that will be addressed during your studies.
Make a schedule for yourself and stick to it.
Rather than attempting to duplicate the toppers' strategy, create your own schedule based on your goals, talents, and shortcomings.
Given that you only have one month to prepare and rework, start with the most crucial topics.
Prioritize rote learning above intellectual comprehension.
A rote learner will never be able to pass the JEE Main exam because many of the questions are application-based and designed to test your conceptual knowledge.
Use online study resources and training videos from reputable sources to fully learn the fundamentals.
Take timed practise examinations to improve your time management abilities.
Giving timed practise exams will help you manage your time more effectively on exam day.
Take at least two mock exams every day, in addition to reviewing the topic.
You will first surpass the time restriction, but with practise, your speed and accuracy will improve.
As soon as possible, get rid of any and all uncertainty.
Don't put off asking questions until the last minute; clarify your doubts as soon as feasible to continue your preparation.

Go over each area a couple of times.
As you progress through the curriculum, you will have a better understanding of everything.
