The correct answer is Samundragupta. Chandragupta's selection of Samundragupta proved to be the biggest single factor in the interest of the Gupta dynasty. The Allahabad Piller Inscription (Prayaga Prasasti) written by his court poet Harisena gives a detailed account of the conquests of Samundragupta. Through his military campaigns, Samundragupta re-established the political unity in India to a large extent. Owing to his military conquests, Dr V.A. Smith has called Samudragupta as the Napoleon of India.
