What were the causes and effects of Revolution of 1848 in France ?
(1) Causes : In Europe the 1830s were years of great economic hardship. In 1848 too there were food shortages and widespread unemployment. As a result of it, the population of Paris demonstrated. Barricades were erected. (2) Results : Louis Philippe abdicated the throne. France became a Republic. Suffrage was granted to all adult males above 21 years. Right to work was guaranteed. National workshops to provide employment were set up. Thus, another revolution had taken place in France which changed the government from monarchy to a republic.
