(1) Horticulture crops consist of fruits and vegetables, India is the largest producer in the world. India is a producer of tropical as well as temperate fruits. It produces 13 per cent of world’s vegetables. (2) The main fruits and vegetables produced in India are as given below : 1. Fruits : Mangoes, oranges, bananas, lichi, guaVa, pineapples, grapes, apples, pears, apricots and walnuts. Vegetables : Pea, cauliflower, onion, cabbage, tomato, brinjal and potato. 2. Fruits are produced in the following states : Mangoes : Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Oranges : Nagpur and Cherrapunjee (Meghalaya). Bananas : Kerala, Mizoram, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Lichi and guava : Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Pineapples: Meghalaya. Grapes : Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Apples, pears, apricots and walnuts : Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. These are in great demand the world over.
