Gandhiji witnessed the cultural and social backwardness of the Champarang villages. To educate them, he appealed to his teachers. His two new young disciples, Mahadev his Desai, Naharipalik, and their wives, offered to work. There are also several other teachers from Bombay (Mumbai), Pune and other faraway parts of India.
