An exponent is defined as a way to express large numbers as powers. In other words, exponent refers to the number of times a number is multiplied by itself. For example, 6 is multiplied by 4, so 6 x 6 x 6 x 6. This can be written as 64. where 4 is the exponent and 6 is the base.
