what is ozone depletion?
Depletion of the ozone layer consists of two related events observed since the late 1970s. A steady decline in the total amount of ozone in the Earth's atmosphere by about 4%, and a significant decline in stratospheric ozone in the spring around the Earth's polar regions. The latter phenomenon is called the ozone hole.
