Sodium (Na) is metal which is extremely reactive which reacts with water and produces hydrogen gas. H2 gas catches fire as it creates intense heat from the reaction. (ii) When sodium metal is heated in the presence of free supply of air sodium peroxide is formed along with the small quantity of sodium oxide.
