Asexual reproduction is widespread in fungus. A portion of the mycelium is fragmented into minute pieces that grow into new mycelium, however sexual reproduction occurs in some fungus. Fungi imperfecti refers to a group of fungi that reproduces entirely by asexual spores rather than sexual spores.
